What is Halmi?
Halmi (our nickname for grandma in Korean) is a modern take on classic Korean flavors. Spun from real, good-for-you ingredients, we aim to flavor the conversations that reconnect you with your roots.
[PRE-ORDER NOW OPEN! Ships end of August-early September] Our sparkling take on Korea's beloved SuJeongGwa, a sweetened spiced punch that's been brewed for generations to aid digestion and ward off colds. Crafted with cinnamon, ginger, jujube and persimmon, this is our version of a healthier, lighter ginger ale.
Some of our favorite pairings with CGJP: kimchi jjigae, chicken parm with spaghetti (Hannah and her dad's #1), salads I guess, every pajeon under the sun, burgers, hotteoks, soju, whiskey, rum, gin, vodka, etc. etc.
The Halmi way
My halmi played a big part in my appreciation for traditional Korean foods with digestive and medicinal properties, and why Halmi exists. But Halmi isn’t just about mixing the old and the new - it's a way to honor our roots, strengthen ancestral connections since ties have been loosened or lost due to diaspora, trauma, war, and to celebrate our hyphenated identities.
We invite those who wish to do the same, or are interested to learn more, to join us on this journey.
